First was James Elijah Robinson, probably connected to the Quaker Robinson families, in 1887. This couple had at least six children. Hattie and James appear to have divorced/separated in the early 1900s. According to the trees Harriet married Daniel Murphy Kemp about 1903. Daniel and Harriet had at least one child, Edna Kemp, born in 1904 in Illinois. This marriage lasted only a few years, Daniel died in 1907. Harriet next married Wellington Taylor, probably very shortly after the death of Daniel Kemp. Finally Harriet married Wesley Alexander Palmer. These four marriages are partially corroborated by the census records. The Robinson family is found completed in 1900, evidence for the Kemp marriage is supported by the presence of Edna Kemp in the Hattie/Wellington Taylor household in 1910 and 1920. Finally, the marriage to Wesley Alexander Palmer is supported by the 1930 census. When I first encountered this complex set of relationships, I did not accept them. However, as I reviewed the census record the sequence and relations became increasingly probable. One could still have some doubts about the specific events recorded in the families as certain ones appear to be improperly documented. For example, the death of Wesley Alexander Palmer lists a different wife at the time of death. Her married name was Taylor. Her married name was Palmer. Her married name was Kemp.
