ARNOLD - Darrell Arlene Dennis Rosentrater, 86, of Arnold, died Dec. 16, 2005, at Heritage Hall in Broken Bow. 86 years, five months and 21 days ago in Arnold, John and Hellen Mills Dennis became par-ents of Darrell Arlene Dennis Rosentrater. She went home to the farm at New Hope and lived her early years there going to grade school at New Hope School. She was the oldest of five chil-dren. She graduated Valedictorian from Arnold High School in 1937, and within a month of graduation, her mother passed away. She went to Normal School at Kearney State College to become a teacher and began teaching in the fall of 1937.
After teaching for a few years she married Harold Rosentrater Oct. 6, 1940, in Arnold at her dad's house. On March 10, 1943, they had their first son, Eugene Harold who only lived a couple of days. She enjoyed life on the farm with Harold for 42 years and continued living there for 20 more years after his death. 62 years in one house. They faithfully attended Tallin Union Church served in the community and milked dairy cows for many years. In 1945, Darwin Lee was born. Beverly Ann in 1946, and Dennis Michael in 1948. 10 years later in 1958, they had quite a shock when Cathi Jean was born. After Harold died in 1983, her roles changed once again and it be-came necessary for her to take a more active part in managing the farm. She made wise busi-ness decisions and she and Denny operated the farm successfully.
She is survived by her son, Darwin (Judy) Rosentrater of Broken Bow, daughter, Beverly Leach of Arnold, and her daughter, Cathi (Matt) Wagner of Lincoln; grandchildren, Mike and Paula Rosentrater of Paxton, Michelle and Joe Canfield of Sterling, Colo., Scott and Lori Leach of Springfield, Mo., Sheri and David Quirie of Lincoln, Sarah and Brian Danielson of Kearney, and Rachael, Keeli and Shaylle Wagner of Lincoln; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernadene Hoppas of Arnold, and Marcia Johnson of San Bernardino, Calif; two sister-in-laws, Ellen Den-nis of Arnold and Wanda Rosentrater of Callaway; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her sons, Eugene and Dennis; her parents, John and Hellen Dennis; a stepmother, Gladys Dennis; a sister, Gayle Hower; and a brother, Bernard Dennis.
She was admired and respected by all who knew her and she will be missed.
Memorials are suggested to the Arnold Baptist Church Building Fund.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Arnold with the Rev. Irving Jennings officiating. Burial will be in the Arnold Cemetery.
