James Anderson/Elizabeth Brown Descendants
The Anderson line is our “primary” direct paternal line of descent. I am really only confident of the line beginning with John Anderson and Elizabeth Horney in the late 1700s in Delaware/Maryland. There are no definitive records that I have been able to locate that clearly link our line through James Anderson/Ann Clifton to James Anderson/Elizabeth Brown. There is certainly circumstantial and suggestive evidence that such a link exists. The earlier two James were associated with Quakers or were indeed Quakers or Nicholites — a fundamentalist off-shoot of the Quakers. Later generations of our Anderson ancestors lived among Quakers: John and Elizabeth in Delaware, North Carolina and Ohio.
The Horney line, with whom the Anderson line repeatedly links, is also associated with the Quakers. The Horney families live among the Quakers in Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois, though I have not identified any Horney families in the Quaker Meeting records.
Beginning with James and Elizabeth Brown this line covers seven generations to the author’s father.
