John Haacke/Hannah Adams Descendants

My grandmothers maternal ancestors. The Haacke family originally came to North America from Holland, settling in Canada. There John Haacke married Hannah Adams who is reputed to be a cousin of John Adams — there is no evidence to confirm such a relationship.

John’s son David came to Illinois in the early 1800s and created a name for himself in the western area of the state, participating in the Black Hawk Indian wars and establishing a large family, he married four times.

Grandmother Anderson’s mother, Margaret Haacke, grew up and married in Fulton County, Illinois. After the death of her first husband she married Benjamin Arthur Newton, they settled in Scranton, Iowa where her daughter Margaret Holmes met and married Haramont Nathaniel Anderson.
